20th Annual MWA Kids Fishing Derby Hosted By MWA & The Macon Water Alliance
The 20th Annual Macon Water Authority (MWA) Kids Fishing Derby was a great time for young anglers and their families! Held at Javors Lucas Lake on Saturday, March 1st, the event drew a fantastic crowd under beautiful weather conditions, making for a perfect day of fishing, fun, and friendly competition.
This year, 215 kids participated, accompanied by 288 adults, bringing the total attendance to 503 people. Young fishers competed across four age groups, hoping to land the biggest catch and take home top prizes.
And the Winners Are…
Competitors reeled in some impressive catches, with Kali Bullard (age 5) taking home the Biggest Catch of the Day award with a 7.03 lb. catfish! Here are the winners from each age group:
Ages 3-5
🥇 1st Place – Kali Bullard, 5 years old, 7.03 lbs. (Catfish) 
🥈 2nd Place – Peyton Wingate, 5 years old, 3.1 lbs. (Trout)
🥉 3rd Place – Dawson Herndon, 5 years old, 2.44 lbs. (Trout)
Ages 6-9
🥇 1st Place – Abby Gray, 7 years old, 5 lbs. (Catfish)
🥈 2nd Place – Ransom Braswell, 8 years old, 2.79 lbs. (Trout)
🥉 3rd Place – Zeke Newberry, 7 years old, 2.68 lbs. (Trout)
Ages 10-13
🥇 1st Place – Thomas Summers, 11 years old, 4.12 lbs. (Catfish)
🥈 2nd Place – Kyae Scott, 13 years old, 3.1 lbs. (Trout)
🥉 3rd Place – Wesson Lewis, 11 years old, 3.1 lbs. (Trout)
Ages 14-16
🥇 1st Place – Drew Stewart, 15 years old, 2.68 lbs. (Trout)
🥈 2nd Place – Braelon Pitts, 14 years old, 2.42 lbs. (Trout)
🥉 3rd Place – Alayzia Fennelle, 15 years old, 2.24 lbs. (Trout)
