MWA Board Approves Plum Street Lane Stormwater Pipe Rehabilitation to Address Flooding and Infrastructure Concerns
Company News
(Macon, GA – March 7, 2025)
The Macon Water Authority (MWA) Board has approved a $108,525 stormwater rehabilitation project to improve drainage and address structural concerns along Plum Street Lane in downtown Macon.
The project, awarded to Southeast Pipe Survey, involves installing a Cured-in-Place Pipe (CIPP) liner in the stormwater infrastructure from First Street to New Street. This method will strengthen aging stormwater pipes and reduce the risk of flooding with minimal excavation or traffic disruption.
Funding and Project Scope
The Plum Street Lane rehabilitation will be funded through Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) funds, ensuring no direct financial impact on ratepayers. The project aligns with MWA’s ongoing efforts to enhance the resilience and efficiency of Macon’s stormwater system.
Next Steps
Construction is expected to begin in the coming months. MWA will provide updates as the project progresses.
