Public education efforts from the Macon Water Authority inform Macon citizens and stakeholders about the nature of the water industry and the issues impacting the water profession. Common subjects within public education in the water industry include, but are not limited to:

  • Water and Wastewater Treatment
  • Water Conservation or Wise Water Use
  • Grease Management and FOG (fats, oils and grease) Education
  • Non-Dispersibles – those items to NOT flush down the toilet
  • Watershed Protection
  • Pollution Prevention

The MWA’s primary educational objectives are to increase the public’s awareness and knowledge about the people, facilities, and operations of their water utility, especially those issues directly impacting customers’ lives.
